Children's Dental Services at Aesthetica
Comprehensive oral healthcare for every stage of your child's dental development — from first tooth to teenage years.
Dental Check-ups & Cleaning
Regular 6-monthly check-ups and professional cleaning remove plaque and tartar that brushing misses. Early detection of cavities means simpler, less invasive treatment — saving your child from pain and you from larger bills later.
Fluoride Treatments
Professional fluoride varnish is applied in minutes and significantly strengthens developing enamel, making teeth more resistant to decay. Recommended every 6 months for children aged 6 months to 16 years.
Pit & Fissure Sealants
A thin protective coating applied to the deep grooves of back teeth where cavities most commonly form in children. Completely painless — no drilling, no anaesthesia. One of the most effective preventive treatments available.
Tooth-Coloured Fillings
When cavities do occur, we use tooth-coloured composite fillings that blend naturally with baby and adult teeth. Performed gently with child-friendly anaesthesia techniques to minimise discomfort and anxiety.
Space Maintainers
If a baby tooth is lost prematurely, a space maintainer holds the gap open until the permanent tooth erupts — preventing neighbouring teeth from drifting and avoiding the need for orthodontic treatment later.
Early Orthodontic Assessment
The Indian Dental Association recommends an orthodontic assessment by age 7–8. Early identification of bite problems, crowding or jaw development issues allows for simpler interceptive treatment before problems worsen.
Habit Counselling
Thumb sucking, tongue thrusting, mouth breathing and prolonged bottle feeding can all affect dental development. Dr. Prachi provides gentle, effective counselling for children and parents on breaking these habits early.
Oral Hygiene Education
Teaching children the right brushing technique, correct amount of toothpaste, and importance of flossing sets the foundation for a lifetime of healthy teeth. We make learning fun and age-appropriate.
Our Child-Friendly Approach
Children's dental experiences shape their attitude to oral health for life. We make every visit positive, calm and fear-free.
When Should My Child Visit the Dentist?
A simple age-by-age guide to your child's dental milestones.
First dental visit recommended when the first tooth appears or by the first birthday. Checks for early childhood caries and guides parents on cleaning baby teeth correctly.
Establishing a regular dental routine. Check-up, professional clean, fluoride varnish and oral hygiene guidance. Habit counselling if thumb sucking or dummy use is ongoing.
Cavity risk increases. 6-monthly check-ups, fluoride and sealants on first permanent molars (which erupt around age 6). Monitoring jaw development and bite.
Mixed dentition stage. Orthodontic assessment recommended. Early issues with spacing, crowding and bite can be intercepted before permanent teeth fully erupt.
All permanent teeth except wisdom teeth have erupted. Cavity prevention, orthodontic monitoring and oral hygiene reinforcement as children become more independent in their habits.
Aligner or brace treatment if needed. Wisdom tooth monitoring begins. Sports mouth guards for active teenagers. Oral hygiene refresh as teenage dietary habits often worsen.

Paediatric Dentistry FAQs
At what age should a child first visit the dentist?
The Indian Dental Association recommends a child's first dental visit by age 1, or within 6 months of their first tooth appearing. At the very latest, children should visit a dentist before starting school (age 3–5) to catch early childhood caries and build a healthy dental routine.
My child is scared of dentists — how do you handle this?
Dental anxiety in children is very common and something Dr. Prachi has significant experience with. She uses the tell-show-do technique, never rushes, allows parents to stay in the room, and uses positive reinforcement throughout. Most anxious children are noticeably more relaxed by their second or third visit.
Should baby teeth be treated if they have cavities?
Yes. Baby teeth hold space for permanent teeth and play a vital role in speech, eating and jaw development. Untreated cavities in baby teeth can cause pain, infection and early tooth loss — which may lead to spacing problems for permanent teeth. Early treatment is always simpler and kinder.
How often should children visit the dentist?
Every 6 months is recommended for most children. Children with a higher risk of cavities (those who consume sugary drinks, have poor brushing habits, or have had fillings before) may benefit from more frequent visits.
Are X-rays safe for children?
Yes. At Aesthetica we use digital X-rays which emit up to 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays. They are only taken when clinically necessary and are an important diagnostic tool for detecting cavities between teeth and monitoring root development.
Is Aesthetica open on weekends for children's dental appointments?
Yes. Aesthetica is open 7 days a week — Monday to Sunday, 10:15 AM to 8:30 PM — including public holidays and school holidays. Weekend appointments are very popular for families from Wakad, Punawale and Hinjewadi.
What Parents Say About Aesthetica
Brought my 6-year-old for her first dental visit. She was so comfortable she actually enjoyed it! Dr. Prachi has a brilliant way with children. Highly recommend Aesthetica for families in Punawale.
My 8-year-old son was terrified of dentists after a bad experience elsewhere. Dr. Prachi spent time just talking to him first, showed him everything, and he sat through the whole filling without crying. Amazing patience.
We bring both our children here regularly. The clinic is very clean, Dr. Prachi is thorough yet gentle, and the children actually ask when they can go back to the dentist. That says everything!
